"Strange Affair" the perfect tribute band, opened the proceedings with a set they can be proud of, 'Time was' and 'Persephone' were brave choices and well performed. Well done Guys., - Mike and Martine
Remember them playing a superb Insomnia in the set list and finishing with Blowin Free - valedication
Completely blown away with Strange affair. New to the forum and just had to come on and say my bit. Also met with the guys who were fantastic and very down to earth. - Andy C
I watched most of your set at AshCon. Nice job. You all obviously worked hard on prepping the material. Nice job. ANDY POWELL (WISHBONE ASH!!)
Great set, guys I'm especially liking the inclusion of Insomnia - Simon Atkinson
Wally - I really don't get tribute bands of any description but Strange Affair were excellent. To me they didn't try to be clones but did their own thing and gave a fabulous performance. They clearly had done their reasearch and provided a set which did not clash with the main set of the day. They also pulled some rabbits from the hat with some of the more unusual choices and their rendition of Blowin Free was the one I have been missing of late - absolutely superb. Interesting to note that Andy and the boys returned to a more traditional version of their masterpeice on Saturday!
As well as being great musicians - special praise here for the singer who has a great voice - we were in the same hotel and they are agreat bunch of lads who were clearly proud to perform at Ashcon - Cochran
Strange Affair, a great tribute act super set with some interesting choices of tracks played with enthusiasm, well done lads takes guts to get up in front of Ash fans and play those beloved songs great start to the day. - Higgy
I really enjoyed Strange Affair's set - it included surprises like Insomnia, Anger In Harmony and Persephone, possibly Runaway?? Unfortunately, I could not see a set-list to photograph and my memory is not good enough to recall it (hopefully one of the band will post their set-list??). I do remember enjoying Blowin' Free and Time Was.
Well done, guys. - VKNIT
I was really looking forward to seeing Strange Affair after meeting Jim earlier this year in Glasgow – I know how nervous you must have been, but you were all absolutely superb. I think we all thoroughly enjoyed your performance. It really must have been an unforgettable experience for you all. Well done – hope our paths cross again soon. - Georgiegirl
We had'nt made the afternoon events but judging by everyones comments we missed some tremendous performances , especially by Strange affair, I'm really sorry we missed out on hearing them play. - Gilly B
Most of the musical content of the afternoon has been covered elsewhere, so I'll just say that Strange Affair were excellent - FD (John)
I went to the Winding Wheel for the afternoon session of this years Ashcon, unfortunately not being able to attend the evening show. I really wanted to catch Strange Affair the Wishbone Ash tribute band having played in a WA tribute outfit myself. Knowing that they would be totally nervous having been given the chance to play Ashcon, I wasn't sure just what to expect from them but hats off to the guy's for pulling it off. Highlights for me were Persephone and Anger In Harmony and a mention must go to Stevie for playing the intro to Handy (well done). It was an interesting set list that contained numbers such as Insomnia, Strange Affair and Time Was to name but three. It was great to finally meet them all in person and I would like to say what lovely guys they are as well. Well done fellas! keep up the good work. PS: It was brilliant meeting up with the forum members again from this and the other site (today and yesterday).
